The Pros And Cons Of Window Tinting

by Jack Brolin

There's nothing worse than getting into your truck or car after it has been baking in the hot sun while you have been shopping in a nice cool mall. You get into it and the heat literally envelopes you and you can't even touch the steering wheel. Do you know that window tinting can make a huge difference?

Okay, so you have air conditioning in your vehicle. But even so, tinting can help your car's air con work more efficiently because the temperature inside will be notably reduced. Window tinting works by preventing a large amount of the sun's harmful UV rays from penetrating through your car's windows.

If you decide to have tinting applied to your car, first find out if this permitted in your city or state. There are legal limits to how dark the tinting may be. In some countries, window tinting is not permitted at all. Presently in America, vehicles used for business purposes may have a 30% tint on the front windshield and on the two front windows. Private vehicles are only allowed a 20% tint.

There are many other reasons why tinted windows are so popular. Tinted windows allow improved visibility for the driver by eliminating glare. And of course lots of youngsters think that tinted windows make their cars look 'cool'.

Other people get windows tinted so that any would-be criminals cannot see how many people are in the car, and they will be less likely to approach it. But the most common reason is to keep out the sun's beating rays so that you are more comfortable. Window tinting will also protect the upholstery in your car.

Another advantage of tinting is that the substance applied actually holds the glass together. So in the event of a collision, or damage caused while driving in a nasty storm, the window glass will not shatter. This is another deterrent to criminals because they cannot break a clean hole in the glass.

The tinting of windows involves the application of an extremely thin film of waterproof plastic onto the windows. Tinted windows are very common in homes as well as cars for the same reasons. Windows that are tinted will reduce the temperature in your home and keep it well insulated.

The material used in tinting contains deflective properties. So during summer, heat is actually pushed away from the windows. The material is also able to absorb heat in cold weather so during winter your home will be a lot warmer. The tinted windows in your home will also protect your furniture and other expensive equipment like TVs, computers and sound systems.
